Sunday Post 08/11/24

The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted here @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on your blog for the week ahead. Join weekly, bi-weekly, or for a monthly wrap-up.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet and share what you have been and are about to read over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit, comment, er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and was then hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.

Life

After three years on Methotrexate and it not doing anything, my Rhumetogist switched me to Enebrel, and that was a complete 180-degree game changer. I even joined a gym and went back to my Sweat App workouts! I am also doing something I have never done before: I signed up for the midyear Sweat Challenge, a fitness challenge that pushes me to my limits and helps me stay motivated in my health journey.

While Notion is acceptable for Project Management, I was looking at an app that could handle notes well and work as my brain does. I downloaded Obidiam and have been playing around with it. It’s a versatile app that allows me to organize my thoughts, tasks, and notes in a way that makes sense to me, and so far, it is what I am looking for.

Books

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve FINALLY GOT MY READING MOJO BACK!!

I read four books last week and liked all of them, which is a shocker since I started reading and then put down books all year. The titles were Hey Hun, Cultish, Building a Second Brain, and Things No One Tells Fat Girls.

I know I am stretching it with “academic text” when I just found pleasure in reading again, but I like the descriptions, so I shall see how far I get.

These books were recommended to me by friends with similar tastes. I hope to gain insight into the religious and political issues boiling on the edge of American Democracy. I am deep into MAGA territory here in South Eastern KY. As an avowed agnostic, it is terrifying to think that Trump could get elected and Handmade Tale will be not just a dystopian story but rather the norm.

A friend insisted that I just HAD to read “The Maniac.” As a Bonus, Obama recommended it, and so far, I have loved every book he has recommended. I like the plot that I have seen, and again, this friend has a very close reading taste to me, so I have high hopes. I’m genuinely grateful for these excellent recommendations.
