I first heard of this podcast when I first started my freelance writing blog. Back then, I did not have my Cochlear implant yet, so I did not understand why so many women loved this podcast. Then I got my implants, and I did well and could finally understand what all the hype was about.
Being Boss is a mindset. Most people I know can “be the boss” but lack the right mindset actually to go out and accomplish the feeling. As countless other people and I can attest having a poverty mindset does no one any good. Part of the reason I went and bought the paperback after listening to it on audio is that there are soooo many tips and it is a workbook also. They have exercises for readers to do that will help cultivate your mind and how to align your goals with what is important to you. I am working my way through it slowly, and I can feel my mind shifting to a better, healthier place.
Something else that I loved was they were all for creating routines. I will admit to going with the flow all the time in the beginning, and I would do whatever the hell I wanted. It caught up with me though and worse; it did nothing to GROW the writing stuff or this book blog. I was tired and exhausted and I SILL only had like 50 subscribers. This was more than ten years ago, so I know now to always ALWAYS create a routine pt it in my planner and todoist and on my calendar. Works like a charm!
I also loved how the authors said that we need to find a balance between work and leisure time. I will admit I had suffered from exhaustion a burnout before a that was no fun. I was nervous when I bought the audiobook that they would have the hustle 24/7 situation going. I was pleasantly surprised when instead, they talked about “down time” and how important it is. Especially since most people that I follow on Social Media are all like I am hustling 24/7 blah blah blah.
I will say this straight up that I have “money blocks” I am working on overcoming them, but at times I need some extra pushes on my brain to get out of the pitiful poverty stricken my mindset. I have found that my nest business month are when I can think from an abundance viewpoint. Then I get nervous, and I go right back to the whole. I am a poor pity party. The reason I mentioned this is that in the book Being Boss, they have some excellent advice on how to stay in the abundance mindset so that all your hopes and dreams will flow to you.
The one downside is that Emily Thompson and Kathleen Shannon has oodles of abliems and privileges oozing thru the audiobook and the dead tree book. I mean take blogging, for example, if you are serious about it, it can be an expensive endeavor, and even if the blog is just a hobby, it can still get out of control moneywise. A person living on Government audience most likely do not have the funds to get all the plugins and self-hosting and all of that. I even did a post on what I spent on when I was still a poor broke blogger. And I will admit that I am privileged enough that my parents helped me a bit if I had to do it all on my own then I know that most likely I would not be here typing all this up. Disability is only around 700 dollars a month ( I know cause I used to get it) and between rent and food I was dead broke all the time. Three would have been a dime to invest in anything other than the most basic survival items.
