To be honest, this was my mastermind bookclub pick. I had heard of Dorie Clark on this podcast and thought she was awesome. I never thought about reading this book until it was picked for the mastermind book club. I am kicking myself for not reading this sooner!
What I liked about this book
I loved that it gave a comprehensive blueprint on how you can monetize your passion. I had wanted to switch up my business model to monetize this blog but wasn’t sure how to accomplish that. After reading this book, I am brimming with ideas.
I loved how honest and transparent she was about her failures. I mean I have only been at this for a little over a year with my ghostwriting business and blogging, and I feel as I failed more often than I have succeeded. I have had some successes so it is not all bad, but I usually hear about how people make millions in their second year in business all from scratch, and I feel…discouraged. But Dorie Clark tells us all about her failures and that makes me feel a little better. She also talks about how others had failed before they hit it big and again that made me feel a lot better about where I am at.
I loved how she gave DETAILED ideas of how to launch a course how to see if there is a demand for it before you waste six months creating it then not have anyone buy the course. I often have wondered how people went about that. Now I know.
What I did not like about the book
This may seem childish, but I listened to the audio version, and it grated on my nerves with how often she when he said..she said..he said..she said. After almost every damn sentence. It grated on my nerves. I m interested to see how the print version holds up in the regard.
I LOVED this book. I have it coming tome in print version this week from the library, and I am going to read t with my eyes, and I will probably buy me my copy. This is a book that is truly helpful for anyone wanting to embark on the entrepreneurial lifestyle. I have been waiting to do more with the blog, and I wasn’t sure how to tie my love of books and reading and to write together, but now I know!
If you are a book blogger have you ever wanted to turn it into a business? Have you attempted to do so? If you haven’t would you be interested?
