Oprah Winfrey says Super Soul Sunday is the television show she was born to do. “I see it as an offering,” she explains. “If you want to be more fully present and live your life with a wide-open heart, this is the place to come to.”
Now, for the first time, the aha moments of inspiration and soul-expanding insight that have enlightened millions on the two-time Emmy Award-winning Super Soul Sunday are collected in The Wisdom of Sundays, a beautiful, cherishable, deeply-affecting book.
Organized into ten chapters—each one representing a powerful step in Oprah’s own spiritual journey and introduced with an intimate, personal essay by Oprah herself—the Wisdom of Sundays features selections from the most meaningful conversations between Oprah and some of today’s most-admired thought-leaders. Visionaries like Tony Robbins, Arianna Huffington, and Shonda Rhimes share their lessons in finding purpose through mindfulness and intention. World renowned authors and teachers like Eckhart Tolle, Thich Nhat Hahn, Marianne Williamson and Wayne Dyer, explain our complex relationship with the ego and the healing powers of love and connection; and award-winning and bestselling writers like Cheryl Strayed, Elizabeth Gilbert, and Elizabeth Lesser explore the beauty of forgiveness and spirituality.
Paired with beautiful photographs, including many from Oprah’s private property in California where each episode of Super Soul Sunday is filmed, The Wisdom of Sundays promises to be a timeless keepsake that will help readers awaken to life’s wondrous possibilities and discover a deeper connection to the natural world around them.
A Few Days ago I was in the grip of one of the worst anxiety attacks of my life. Generally, I have found that since my implants have been working for me listening to an audiobook while I am anxious helps calm me down. I was looking on Scribd and saw this and remember that a blog ( I forget which one) I follow loved this book. I was also feeling down, and all of that so was also looking for something.. Inspirational.. This seemed like it fit the bill, so I downloaded it on sribd and listened to it all the way through.
It is a really short audiobook only 4 hours long, but you know how a short book can seem to drag o forever even though it is only 100 pages? I have found that a bad story, a bad narrator among other things can make for a bad audiobook.
I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to understand Oprah because back in the day when she was on the Oprah show I had hearing aids, but they did not work for me. Even if I COULD hear sounds, it was all gibberish. It was with some trepidation that I started listening to this, and all I can say is WOW! I could understand everyone, and the material just blew me away. I had known that she had become super spiritual but what I did NOT know was how much sense and how much it felt like she and her guests were reassuring me that it would all be ok. It goes deep into topics such as love and forgiveness and it will make you think.
The audiobook is set up like an interview between Oprah and her guests. I admit I didn’t catch everyone’s name, but I did understand most of what everyone was saying, so that was a big plus. I saw on good reads that the book format had some great pictures of course it is impossible to use them with just the audiobook version so I kind of feel like I missed out on something BUT it did serve its purpose of calming me down enough that I felt like I could function.
I have to admit I am all into spirituality and that kind of stuff so even the “out there” concepts did not bother me. If you can read Eckhart Tolle A New Earth and get something out of that, then you will love Oprah’s book.
I love Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday show but haven’t watched it in a million years. I will add this book to my audio book list.
I have never watched the show but after reading this book I am.
