The New York Times bestselling author, Bulletproof Coffee creator, and father of biohacking teaches you how to upgrade your brain to speed it up or slow it down at will and alter your physical and mental states.
In his twenties, Dave Asprey battled debilitating brain fog and chronic fatigue syndrome. Frustrated by his broken brain, he embarked on a lifelong quest to upgrade his "MeatOS"--to fix his brain, biohack his biology to live past the age of 180, and push the boundaries of human potential. Asprey discovered that cultivating a mentally and physically healthy life depends on a solid grounding for our inner life. Now, in this, his sixth book, he shares the mind-blowing discoveries he has found.
Based on his immersive program 40 Years of Zen, Heavily Meditated combines ancient wisdom traditions and practices with modern technology and cutting-edge science to provide a roadmap for making positive changes in our bodies and minds. Asprey gives you the key to unlock altered states of consciousness and tap into unlimited energy, happiness, and inner peace. Dive into breathwork, harness sexual energy, learn how to safely induce pain, reset your relationship with technology, explore psychedelics, and geek out with EEG and neurofeedback. Discover the magic of the Reset Process, the core program from Dave's renowned neurofeedback center, to remove the triggers draining your power. These methods--including meditation, ego management, breathwork, sleep practices, sexual energetics, psychedelics, and more--are your toolkit to enhance cognitive performance, biohack your MeatOS, boost productivity, and unlock your hidden potential to ensure you have the energy you need for the things that matter most. With Heavily Meditated you will:
- Experience Greater Cognitive Function
- Perform at Your Peak

Way back when, the Bulletproof diet was all the rage. I followed the low-carb lifestyle religiously. I also credit that for helping my Rheumatoid arthritis in hiding. My Rheumatoid arthritis did not to show up til after I fell off the bandwagon. Then all my health issues started showing up. SO I am now once again reading all I can to try and make something of this life.
I pre-ordered a copy (and yes, I trust Dave Asbry that much).
I used to take bio hacking seriously, and I was shocked, like my friends, when some of them actually worked. Then life kicked my butt, and for so long, I felt like I had to do things the “right way” to get better.
I was sadly mistaken.
When one thinks of meditation, one often pictures Buddhist monks sitting and praying. And so did I after reading. Heavily meditating, I realize that I have only touched the surface of wellness and biohacking.
I also used to have debilitating anxiety, and I credit meditation as a big reason why my anxiety does not pop up often.
I am a ‘pick what you like and forget the rest’ kind of person when it comes to personal development methods.
I used to follow productive systems to the letter. But after my first psychotic episode, I was diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder. I concluded that my brain did not function as before. I started taking the bits that I could use and forgetting the rest; so far, it has worked out really well.
One thing I like about Dave Asberry is that he provides tangible evidence to show how it works. And most importantly, he explains it in a way that people like me can understand. I have read some very wordy books in the past that left me feeling stupid, and I thought it was a waste of money because the whole thing did not work for me. Although I finally found out that at times it’s hard to hold one’s attention when one is neurodivergent, I need someone to dumb down science language to explain it differently than what one would typically use. Language in a way that my brain can understand.
Dave Asberry’s sis states in Heavily Mediating that he used to be autistic, but after biohacking, he no longer identifies with that label.
Don’t get me wrong, I am under no illusion that severe mental illness can be cured. It can only be controlled. I am conducting a personal investigation with various systems to determine what works for me, and this book provided me with some ideas that I’m eager to try out.
