Have you ever been at a loss as to what to write about on your blog? I know I have. I know people have the idea that writers should never run out of things to say, but that is not true. I have had writers block really bad these past few weeks. I would sit down at my computer ready to write and…nada..nothing.
I have heard about Pinterest but I never really looked on there until I heard of other bloggers using it for inspiration. To be honest, I thought that Pinterest was just for people wanting to decorate Their homes and for food and fashion bloggers. I was soooooo wrong. I finally took a good look, and I found that there was a wealth of information for any type of blogger. I got so many ideas just by looking at pin interest for a couple of hours. I also saw stuff for almost everyone. I am getting interested in new age stuff, so I looked for that, and I saw a post about energy healing and all kinds of things. So no matter what you do for a living Pinterest has it. I think it is even better than Google now for finding the types of stuff that I feel inspires me.
In The Artist Way, it says that you should refill your “creative well” regularly. I have to be honest that I thought that was a new age thing that didn’t pertain to me. I can tell you now that I was mistaken. It is important, no matter what you do, to make sure that you are exposed to a wealth of inspiration. When I look back on my best ideas, I noticed that they all came when I was AWAY from my computer. I use Evernote on my phone to keep track of all my ideas, and I was looking through some of the ideas that I had and already wrote about and almost all of them came when I was out and about.
For me, as a writer I felt that it was time to make my writing space sacred. So I went to this new age store I found and stocked up on candles and stones and other stuff I liked the look of but am not very sure what they are supposed to do. I also bought some decorations. Some were just stuff I found at Wal-Mart (I am southern to the bone, I will ALWAYS gravitate to a Wal-Mart) some I ordered off of Esty. I wish I had looked harder at Esty. It has so much to offer! I finally had to hide my credit cards for fear I would go broke. If you are looking to decorate look at Esty, it is fabulous. I am waiting for my orders to come in then I will decorate. Then My writing space will feel inviting and sacred. It is important that you make your work place, a place that you look forward to going. As freelancers and solo Business owners, we spend hours and hours at our work places, so it does matter how we FEEL when we are in it.
With all of this together I should not have a block for a while. I know that many writers have trouble with writing blocks from time to time, but I am taking all the precautions that I can to stave it off.
