Is that time of year again! The time of year when we get all ambitious and make goals for us to break and to forget by March. I like many have the best of intentions but somehow the year gets away from me and December arrives and doing it all over again. I thought if I kept it simple and ONLY related to books and shared my personal goals with a couple of close friends I may be able to accomplish a few. So here goes ;
Blogging
Stop trying to think I HAVE to try and make this a general lifestyle blog. I don’t like to write general lifestyle posts, and this blog is a hobby so stick with what I know and love which is book blogging
Be at least a month ahead with my posts
That way if something comes up, as it always does I will still have a post up, and I won’t be scrabbling around dying to get a post up. Instead of taking it for granted that I will be well enough and able to do it tomorrow I am just going to write all my posts up at least a month ahead of time, and I can look like I have my shit together.
#Bookstagram
Post at least twice a day
I know there are people that post more than that but I am not putting that kind of pressure on myself on what is a fun hobby so twice it is!
BE CONSISTENT
I am sooooo bad about this. Even though I know that being consistent is a crucial ingredient to having a successful #booksagram account I can go days and days without posting. Again I think what I need to do is to shoot a LOT of photos at once then edit them in Photoshop then schedule them in Planoly. Plonoly has the Instagram auto post thingie, so I can use that and once again I can hide behind the illusion of having my shit together. Do spot the pattern yet? Ha
Reading
Read 200 books in 2019
I know I say this every year but since I can understand audiobooks and can read “everywhere” it feels doable for 2019. Instead of trying to cram in more books that I read with my eyes and thus falling behind on all my cleaning and laundry and stuff I can listen to audiobooks. When I first started understanding audiobooks, I had to sit down and focus, but now I can listen while I do something else and that helps me fit in more books than I would otherwise. I don’t know what I was thinking about fitting in 200 reads with your eyes books. That is damn near impossible unless u are doing nothing BUT reading. I have yet to develop the ability to read and food shop, but I can LISTEN and food shop. It is all about fitting in audiobooks into whatever pockets of time I may have available.
read more story type books
I am soooo burnt out on self-help books that it is not even funny. I still love non-fiction such as In the Kingdom of Ice. It is the whole self-help books such as how to do x in x days that I am sick of. I have recently rediscovered my love of Sci-Fi so want to read more Sci-fi books.
Go out of my comfort zone with what I read
It may not look it on the blog, but I DO have a reading comfort zone. I read an and love Sci-Fi but hand me a fan stay book, and I run in the opposite direction. For 2019 I am gonna give my self a goal of reading five fantasy books all the way through
Email list
I have built my email list this past year to respectable numbers, but I am STILL not sure what to say in it. May some bookish links and book lists and stuff like that? All I know is that I better start thinking fast as I want to start using it first weekend in January.
to send a weekly email
I know what I just said about not being sure what to put in my newsletter but I have fun faith in the SOMETHING will come to me.
Invest more in the Blog
I know what you are thinking….if it is a hobby blog why do you want to invest more in it? Well, I also am spending more on my writing blog and since I already have the inflation why not use it for this blog too? The second reason is that I can.
Keep my book list recent
I wrote how I use Trello to decide on what book to read next. It won’t do me any good though if I don’t keep the books, I have updated. I have decided that Saturdays is when I will sit down and to log what books I have and when they str due for library and ARC’s
Keep careful track of what I read
and to keep my spreadsheet updated. I bought Sarah’s Bookshelves Rock Your Reading tracker. Then my nerdy heart can look back and see all sorts of data!
