Places to Get Audiobooks Without Declaring Bankrupcy

I have been blowing through audiobooks this past year. It is like I can’t get enough f them. In my circle of Deaf friends, I have become knows as the audiobook expert. Which thrills me to no end as thee short tears ago I was entirely 100 percent relied on interprets and booked you read with your eyes.

One thing I have found out is that an audiobook habit doesn’t come cheap. A dead tree book and even ebooks tend to be between 9 dollars to 15 dollars while audiobooks can run to 25 dollars! If the audiobook lasted you a while, it wouldn’t be all that bad, but as I have said, I ALWAYS listen to an audiobook. Even on slo-mo, I can get through a typical one in a day.

One thing any good audiologist that works with implant patients will tell you is you have got to put in hours of practice before your brain will start to comprehend sounds. I am not too sure of the mechanics involved in getting a Deaf person brain to register sounds, but I do know is that it takes hours upon hours of practice. Iy is not like you can just put on your implant and understand everything.

I am pleased with my ability to hear AND understand audiobooks and like I said I now through them. I also did not want to risk bankruptcy with my new habit, so I set off to find more affordable options. And to tell people who may not know where to find audiobooks where to get them. Believe me when I first started listening to audiobooks was not at all sure where to go/ I hope t spare other people the frustration and bankruptcy my sharing how I find all of my audiobooks.

Scribd

This has t be my most favorite of all the options. For around ten dollars you can get unlimited audiobooks that ARE popular.  This is where I get most of my audiobooks. When I first signed up for my free trial, I was blown away by how many frontlist favorite audiobooks are on the service. The 9 dollars you pay for unlimited ebooks and audiobooks is money well spent.

Libby-It blew my mind when I heard that a friend was still using overdrive to get books. I made the joke that the 90’s called and wants their software back which as you can imagine did not go over very well. In a nutshell, Libby does what overdrive is supposed to do, but Libby makes the process of getting and downloading audiobooks practically painless. If your local library has Libby, I highly suggest you get that software as opposed to overdrive as overdrive is a clusterfuck of a software. I could never figure out just HOW to get the audiobook fro overdrive onto my phone until Libby. Now all you have to do is click on the book and presto it will painlessly download to your phone. The best part about this is since it is from the library you can borrow books from frreeeeee!

audible deals

By deal I mean 5 dollars or less. I DO have that one credit a month deal, and I have the romance package which you can listen to as many as you want in a month and even though both will cost you a few dollars I still feel that will allow all the sales I have seen audible have this year alone you can build your audiobook library without going broke. The romance package you can listen to as many as your brain will let you so if you love romance books this is more than worth it.

hoopla

Here in Ohio, we have Hoopla and omg it is a Godsend. My library at least gives you a whopping 20 credits a month! I thought that was the arm til I saw on other book blogs that some only get five credits a month. Even if you are one of the poor souls that only get five credits per month, you can’t argue with the fact that it is free to use with your Library card. I have found that they are great with backlist and lesser known titles so don’t go in expecting to see the latest blockbuster audiobook on there but rather to real all the backlists.

Kindle Unlimited

Again this is not good for finding the latest bestseller, but I have seen it is useful for finding indie authors. And just because a book was self-published did not mean it is no good. I have seen some really good hidden gems on here. It is 9 dollars for a month so you can get unlimited audiobooks for a low price.
