Yesterday was World Book Night. This is a day where book lovers all over the world give out books to light or non readers. To get the books volunteers are asked to fill out an application to explain where they will be giving out books and why. Then people are selected and informed via email.
I had originally planned to give out books at a coffee shop near Kent Sate University campus where a lot of students hang out. I gave out about four then I thought if they can afford college tuition and 5 dollars coffees then they are probably not disadvantaged people which is who I wanted to give them to. I came back to my apartment building and gave them out to people. The people at my apartment building were really excited about getting a free book. More excited than the people at the coffee shop. Then I thought I will save some books for people at church this Sunday. So I did that.
Overall it was a very positive experience, and I cant wait to do it again next year!
Very commendable! Wise thinking about people who would really appreciate the book. Thanks for your kind heart!
