My Review: I first heard of this book when my Pastor at church talked about it and I realized that I was co dependent myself so I went and checked this book out from the library. I am glad I did. I recognized myself on the pages of this book. I realized that most of my boyfriends have either been narcissists or had trouble with drugs and alcohol. Over the course of this book I realized that I was trying to re-create the love from my biological father who abandoned me at age three. One I realized this I was able to move on.
This book really gets to the heart of the issue of co dependency. For many years I couldn’t understand why I attracted all the wrong people. This book has valid background theories and explains WHY co dependent people are prone to do this. Once I knew why I was able to change and to take the steps necessary to stop. This book also gives you ways to overcome the issue of co dependency.
I also loved that this book was written with a christian view in mind. AS a Christian myself I am always looking for ways to apply biblical principals to this life. I find a lot of self help books are a bunch of hogwash but this one actually had helpful ways that you could take to get healing from God. God himself provides all healing so it is best to go straight to the source instead of trying all the new agey stuff that is on the market today.
