From GoodReads:
A proud and reserved alien society finds its homeland destroyed in an unprovoked act of aggression, and the survivors have no choice but to reach out to the indigenous humanoids of their adopted world, to whom they are distantly related. They wish to preserve their cherished way of life but come to discover that in order to preserve their culture, they may have to change it forever.
Now a man and a woman from these two clashing societies must work together to save this vanishing race—and end up uncovering ancient mysteries with far-reaching ramifications. As their mission hangs in the balance, this unlikely team—one cool and cerebral, the other fiery and impulsive—just may find in each other their own destinies . . . and a force that transcends all.
My Review: It gets off to a slow start but once the plot starts rolling it is full steam ahead with the action. The world building was fantastic. I felt that I was really there in the world with the characters. It is not often that I feel this way but this book I did.
I especially enjoyed the the two characters Delarua and Dllenahkh . One is a human,am and the other is a Sadri the are both very different from each other. They are put on a mission to find tasadri on Cygnus beta to find spouses for the Sadri that had to settle on this planet due to the destruction on their home world. The romance that builds up between these two is sweet and believable. I hate the insta love but his was a slow build up to the eventual marriage between the two. In the build up we get to see the difference in the two cultures. The Sadri don’t believe in kissing while the humans do. So it is interesting to see two people of different races build on their relationship and to see into the culture of both.
We as readers get to know the culture of the taSardi as they go around Cygnus Beta studying the settlements. It was fascinating leaning about this alien culture that is so different yet so alike us humans.
The characters are richly developed and the plot is full of action. They are plenty of twists and surprises that will keep you turning the page far into the night just to see what happens next.
I think a reader can take a lot out of this book. It shows that different races if really attempt to understand each other then they can get along. What with to days races issues this book shows that really even if we are different from each other we can overcome those differences and make a peaceful harmonious society.
I would recommend this book to sci-fi fans. This book is highly recommended.
