I hope you had a better week than me. My only consolation is that we are one week closer to when all the bees go back into hell where they came from. If you guessed that the Bee saga continues you would be correct. My family thinks I m overreacting and maybe I am …after all I lived in Cleveland for around six years and in those six years I saw maybe three bees so to have all of the suckers flying all around is…..not good..at least to ME it isn’t.

To make matters worse I kept telling myself only a couple of weeks and the front and eight months of winter which means no bugs, snakes or anything of the sort will try and eat me. Again I forgot that here in the south we have maybe three weeks of what southern would call winters, but it isn’t.  I just need time to adjust with having to share my space with insects again.

On the other hand, I am reading again! Both with my eyes and ears. I know I am probably the last person on this planet to come across this, but it is still fascinating to me how some people think that audiobooks are not “real” reading. I was like really?1  So blind people do not “really” read?! I find this whole topic fascinating, and I got sucked into a huge rabbit hole of people debating this. I am in the camp that it does too count.

While I picked up more books last week, I only finished two audio books.

I reviewed here. I will say this; I thought it was gonna be a book about communication and…..it was not.

I will be reviewing Youtility this week. This was a book that I needed to read. I have found that I forget to ask what my readers (you) want and instead try and force you to like whatever I put out annnnd yeah that is not how business works. We all need a reminder at times on how to best market ourselves. If you are looking for a book that tells you all about selling yourself without being desperate or pushy, then you need to read Youtility.

I am nearing the end of Grit and now when I stop and think about it the genuinely successful people have a certain stubbornness about them. Where anyone else would have thrown in the towel people with Grit will a project till the bitter end.

I did have some audiobooks picked out for this coming week, but the thingie that streams sound into my implants has gone missing. I KNOW it has to be in this house somewhere but damn if I know where.

Edited to add MY MOM FOUND IT!! YAY! This is good as I have an online meeting to attend this week. Plus I hate working without music. But Hillary to say wee you not BORN deaf? Yes, I was, but once you hear out of the tech these days, it is hard to go back to not hearing a damn thing. Plus I love my podcasts. I am now a podcast junkie.

  1. That bee saga sounds like a nightmare. I do not play with bees (or hornets or wasps)!

The “audiobook aren’t books” debate is a pet peeve of mine. (Also people who think ebooks aren’t books either.) I’ve actually heard people say it only counts if it’s braille. Nevermind, the fact that most books don’t get translated into it because it’s a very expensive process and the cost of the books reflects that!
I don’t have a link to it, but I read an article that pointed out that once you pass a certain age (like 8 or 9 at the latest) the brain doesn’t process spoken and written words differently. My favorite quote was along the lines of – if you go to Disneyworld with a friend and you drove and they took a plane… would you tell them they were cheating by getting there a different way. No, because that’s absurd!
