Off The Blog

Well, it has been a long, long time. I think it is safe to say that I met none of my goals for July. It started when I found out I have Psoriatic Arthritis and the med they gave me

Methotrexate had pretty intense side effects that the Dr failed to mention.  I now know what to expect on pill day and plan accordingly. The sad part is it takes that to work at full strength, so not only do I have the pain from Psoriatic Arthritis, I also have severe nausea from the methotrexate. I watched Bridgerton over and over.

              My Week In Books

I did manage to read one book and listen to another.

Nomadland– I listened to this on audio. I was captivated by the fact that this whole sector of the aging population goes place to place in their RV or camper vans. What sets this apart from all the other camping stories is that this is not your typical camper with very expensive RV’s. The people in this book primarily used camper vans; instead of staying at a costly campground,s they “parked” on public land.

The Hail Mary Project– Of course, I had to read this one. I looove Andy Weir. This book did NOT disappoint.

What I plan to read this week

Lady Guide to Celestial Mechanics– I will admit…I am super obsessed with Bridgerton and all things Regency England.

Leave the World Behind– How could I turn down a book such as this… And me being in the mountains of Ky, I bet it will turn really creepy. I may have been born and bred here but I still remember my grandmother tell me how the further you get in the holler the more…strange people and things happen. I am now 41 years old and my grandmother told me that when I was 12 and I STILL CAN’T GO UP A HOLLER!

Ice Plant Barbarians– I saw this on another blogger, and I can NEVER turn down anything so far out in the left-field of Sci-fi.

Y’all remember how much I LOVED Amish  Vampires in Space? Well, this is the same method of putting 100 percent of original content out. It will connect neurons that you never knew you had.

My Review of Amish Vampires in Space

Deep Work– To be honest, I had this on hold for four months, and I completely 100 percent forgot all about it. Then my turn came up, me up. I told myself that I   need to get back in the zone and yank myself out of the self-pity party I had for.. … another is a friend talking about how after he read the book, he knew precisely how to get in the Flow, and damn I want that same level of doing well myself, so I am going to crack this book open and learn how to get and stay in the Flow.

What Made Me Happy Last Week

My library FINALLY GOT HOOPLA!! Libraries here in Appalachia are not able to have a robust selection of books. I had been asking for two years, and when I signed on and saw that hoopla was available, I nearly cried in joy.

  1. Nice looking assortment of books. I’m glad your library got Hoopla. So many new choices of things to read. I just got the Audible for The Martian which I was excited about since the Kindle has been on my stack since it was a Kindle Daily Deal in 2016. Come see my week here.Happy reading!

  3. I’m sorry you have been struggling, hopefully your body will adjust to the meds or you’ll find an alternative. Hail Mary is still on my TBR

Wishing you a great reading week
