When I said that I LOVED the first book in the Mystic Bayou, series, I  meant it. After How to Date your Dragon was completed, I ran to download Love and Other Things on Audible Escape… I loved  Love other Wild Things just as much as I did How To Date Your Dragon. I think that I just found me a new series to binge listen to. ALLL the books are on Audible Escape so I won’t go broke buying audiobooks. That is a huge advantage considering that I blow through audiobooks. In my defense, I did not hear for the 35 years of my life, then I received implants and shocked the hell out of everyone when I started understanding human speech. I feel like I have to get 35 years of audiobooks to make up for “lost” time.

As I wrote in How to Date Your Dragon, I was at first under the impression that dragon was a slang for…something  else, but alas, I don’t want to give spoilers, but I will say that the dragon part of it took me by surprise.  And yes, it was a real dragon, and that is as close to a spoiler you will get from me. I thought that in the middle of the audiobook, I could guess how the whole story would play out, but I was mistaken. Being wrong, in this case, played out well. I get sooo mad if I can figure out the twist. If people can guess how it is going to end, then, in my opinion, it takes away some of the shock value from the book.

I had to admit that I was nervous because I had NOT listened to any fantasy before I got my CI Implants. What concerned me the most was if someone in the story had some accent, then I was toast. I still remember when I tried to listen to Ringworld in audio… That was a big fat failure… I am not one to give up that easy, so I practiced listening. I am better, but if the book has any foreign names, I would instead just read it with my eyes.

And the essential part of an audiobook is it on the Escape package or do I have to shell out some serious dollars; This series is all on Audible Escape so you and I won’t go broke paying 35 dollars for ONE book. And Hillary, What about the ROMANCE in the book? If it is on Audible Escape, then it has to have something…

And You will be right!

This book gets hot and heavy, but the language is never Lewd, unlike some other books I have read.  And some of the “action” is unconventional, but I felt that it added to the story instead of having a weal plot and try to use sex as a cover-up.

This book was pure fun to listen to. I needed an “escape” from the real world for a while, and  Love and Other Wild Things delivered.
