In this groundbreaking analysis of personality type, bestselling author of Better Than Before and The Happiness Project Gretchen Rubin reveals the one simple question that will transform what you do at home, at work, and in life.
During her multibook investigation into understanding human nature, Gretchen Rubin realized that by asking the seemingly dry question "How do I respond to expectations?" we gain explosive self-knowledge. She discovered that based on their answer, people fit into Four Tendencies: Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels. Our Tendency shapes every aspect of our behavior, so using this framework allows us to make better decisions, meet deadlines, suffer less stress, and engage more effectively.
More than 600,000 people have taken her online quiz, and managers, doctors, teachers, spouses, and parents already use the framework to help people make significant, lasting change. The Four Tendencies hold practical answers if you've ever thought:
* People can rely on me, but I can't rely on myself. * How can I help someone to follow good advice? * People say I ask too many questions. * How do I work with someone who refuses to do what I ask--or who keeps telling me what to do?
With sharp insight, compelling research, and hilarious examples, The Four Tendencies will help you get happier, healthier, more productive, and more creative. It's far easier to succeed when you know what works for you.

If you have ever read this blog, you will know that I struggle a lot with motivation and reaching my goals. I have no problem knowing what I want to accomplish. I do, however, have a LOT of issues with the follow-through. Honestly, I was so desperate for a way to follow through that I would have tried almost anything.

I saw a lot of people online saying that this book helped them understand themselves a lot better AND gave advice on how to reach a goal.

I took the quiz and guess what?! I am a Rebel. That should come as no surprise to anyone.  After reading all about the Rebel tendency and downloading the free app, I know how to “trick” myself into wanting said goal. If I may be honest, I have done just that for a couple of things that I really and truly wanted to happen. The most memorial one was how I got my ass to Planet Fitness at  5 am every day. I had reached my very highest weight, which I am not going to share here but suffice to say it was a HUGE wake-up call. And honestly, I was not too fond of the whole idea of actually getting off my ass, and Planet Fitness was NEXT DOOR to my apartment. I mean, how lazy could I get? I finally sat down and thought about my “perfect” life, and I felt that workouts were a vital part of “getting to the next level in life”  And when I really and truly had trouble getting up from my couch, I would picture myself still at that weight.

. The strange thing was that it seemed that every time I worked out the T.V at the gym would be airing “Revenge Body”  That is a sign from the Universe if you ask me.   I know I am not the only one that watched Revenge Body while running to nowhere (I always thought it funny that people would spend a fortune on what passes as a workout outfit and had all the tech and shit AND pay a shit ton for the privilege of running in place then drive around in a car the rest of the day)  on a treadmill.  it was at the point that i felt like toal and utter crap. Something HAD to give. I also did not want to be THAT GIRL when it was time for my Collge reunion. I have see pople reactiong not ver nicely with others and i am determined that i AM not GONNA SHOW UP 200 pounds overweight. I was doing well until my health woes started. ( I gained a lot back before anyone figured out that I had Psoriatic Arthritis and not just because I was training HARD in the gym and that started my now infamous health woes) Yet it seems that I would “fail” after a few months and end uptight back to square one. This year back in January, I was determined to find a way to be the best me as possible, and that means getting my weight down to a more healthy range.

I took the quiz that she has on her site to see what prototype you are and no surprise that I got a Rebel! I should have known. That explained sooo much. I had thought that my brain was mean and wouldn’t focus on stuff. After reading up on rebels, I had a big aha moment. Now I could figure out why such apps like the weight watchers app never did work for me.

I now have a new plan that I am testing on myself based on all the things I learn from these kinds of books. I started a month ago, and it seems to be working, but only time will tell.
