What I am reading August 24 2020

Off The Blog

My hole for White Fragility came in! I promptly dropped everything to read. It was recommended by a classmate that I had in Collageand then it blew up on Booksagram about how it was problematic. Which is IS…I don’t know why I don’t trust my ancient after all my degree for undergrad contain EXACTLY this sort of thing, and I have always been passionate about diversity and equality. I am writing a review to explain all my feelings about the book, so be on the lookout! No workouts this last week

What I Read last week

My hold for White Fragility came in! I promptly dropped everything to read. It was recommended by a classmate that I had in Collage and then it blew up on Booksagram about how it was problematic.   And I can see where people would be upset that a white woman was making money on the backs of the African Americans. Hell, I get pissed when I see a hearing person playing a Deaf person on TV. I am gonna write a review of this book soon!

I blew through all of the Remembrance of Earth Past this week… That made me very sad, but then I saw that they have books based in ROEP world, so I bought them all.

What I plan to  read this week

I am halfway through the audiobook Followers. Since I no longer have zillions of Dr’s appointments, my audiobooks listenings have gone down a lot. I need to fix this, so my brain won’t forget how to hear. With an implant like I have, it is hard work getting your mind to understand spoken speech. If you were pre-lining Deaf like me, it is damn near impossible, but somehow I did it. I was just as shocked as the audiologist. And if you go too long without “hearing,” then you have to start allll over. And I don’t want to start all over.

My hold for Grain Brain came in, and I am going to read it and choose my gluten-free or just forget about it. Every Dr. I have seen all have different answers. I told my self just to research yourself and go for what feels right for me.

it is al about a reality show gone bad. OF COURSE, I had to listen to it!

Why We Can’t Sleep

This is an ARC that I got a few months back and am just now getting to it. It is nonfiction, and we all know I love my non-fiction  AND that Title.. I am hoping that it will give me comfort during my noughts of insomnia.

The Artist Way

Mt creativity these days is almost nil. I am in desperate need of restarting the creativity process, and I did the Artist Wat a couple of years ago, and it helps a LOT. So I am doing it again now.

Apps that I did not know that I needed until I tried them

Well, this is not exactly “new,” and I may be late to the game, but The Library extension for chrome received a significant update. The one I was most excited about now was that it connects to Scribd!

Makes thing a whole lot easier!

If you want to try Scribd for free, you can click on the link, and it will take you to a page you can fill out.

Bookly tells me that I am making progress on eating instead of being on social media; I still have a ways to go to get to the ratio that I want it at. At least I am doing SOMETHING other than staring at my phone all day. #progress

What Made Me Happy Last Week

This is a tough one cause I had the worst flat yo ever with Mr. Psoriatic Arthritis.  After much discussion, I have prescribed a new med. I haven’t gad a chance to try it out yet because my insurance I slow in approving it.

And this is why I keep a Gratitude Log in Day One

I put down that I am finally happy because I have finally found my “tribe” online—mostly other book nerds.

And that all I  got for this week

I have finally reached the apex of my cochleae ear implants. I was listening to a  podcast, and I started cleaning and arena an hour later I realized that I was understanding all of it that finally after four years I can put on an audiobook or podcast and I do not need 100 percent of my attention

Listening. And I retain the content while it is in the background

Wins

I hit my step goal every day last week! Granted, it was only 500, but I am doing so well with Noom that I deiced to follow their method of starting where you can and gradually build up. So I set mine for 500 steps. I will keep it that way for this week and raise the steps in two weeks.

I blew through all of the Remembrance of Earth Past this week… That made me very sad, but then I saw that they have books based in ROEP world, so I bought them all.

My book club read The Three Body Problem a while back. Are you thinking of going gluten-free? I tried it but then switched to organic flour and all the symptoms I was having went away.
