Bookish Resulutions in 2023

I know it is kind of late to be king resolutions, but I came across Because Reading is Better Than Real Life Bookish Resolution, and I still have time to write this post and have it up before the deadline meads on Feb 28. So here it is!!!!

Read five books a month off my Netgalley bookshelves

My NetGalley score s super low. It is kinda embarrassing, but it is at the moment at 13 percent. I am HOPING to get it to 30 percent by the end of June. I figure if I read five books a month from my netballs shelf, then I can get it to 30 percent by June then the rest of the year, I can focus on getting it to 60 percent.

Read five books a month of books that I have bought

Those damn dollar deals almost put me in the poor house last year. I told myself no more buying books until I have read a chunk of the books I ALREADY have. ok

Listen to More Audiobooks

O have to admit I have started slacking off on my audiobooks. I used to get through at least two, what with waiting at all these dr appts when everyone was trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Then it was discovered that I had Psoriatic Arthritis, and now I have only two appts; one is every month and one every four months, so my main places to listen to I do not having enough dr visits to keep up the pace. I need to start before I find myself back at square one with my hearing skills.

I have Cochlear Implants, and you must go through a lomgggggg process to get your brain to understand spoken words. The sad part is if you go too long without wearing your implants, your brain “forgets” it all, and you are right back to square one. I have worked too damn hard to be able to comprehend the spoken word. The easiest way to not lose that function is to use Audiobooks.

Do the PopSugar Reading Challenge

There are HUNDREDS of reading challenges out there. As much as I want to, I can’t do them all, so after thinking it over, and I settled on the PopSugar reading challenge for 2023

Visit the Library at least twice a month

I live in Southeastern Ky, and as you probably know, The Great Flood” happened last August. A whopping SIX FEET of water poured down from the headman, ruining everything in its path. I am lucky because I like being on high ground, but most people are not.

The thing that gutted me was the Library in two branches was destroyed. And I don’t know how, but the Library had just restocked its books to titles from this century, and it all went where ever drowned books go to when they are no more.

There is good news! The Branch where I live pined back up!! That area only got, I think, 2 feet of flood water, so they had a lot to do to make the building safe, but now I have a library again.

I have gone so long without going to the Library… I have been since the Flood. I used to be a heavy library patron. How most people feel about the church is how I think about libraries. It’s kinda sad how I keep “forgetting” to go, but I will start putting back library days on my calendar and go twice a month.
