Fear: A Book Review

My Review: Confession, I read Going Clear and was all like L Ron Hubbard is a nutcase. My second thought was that nut cases sometimes write the best stories so I went to the library and got me some books that L Ron Hubbard wrote. Fear is the first one I read. I was even more excited that his book had been blurbed by Steven King. I now hoped King just slapped his name on there for the hell of it because this book was horrible. The only reason I gave it three stars was because of the ending which redeemed the book somewhat and the fact that I had JUST read a true story about demons and was all like well if it DID happen and the dude in the story did take a trip through hell, then ok, it is a halfway decent story. See it was so lackluster I can’t even be bothered to look up the main dudes name.

Any way the story starts off with this man coming to and he can’t find his hat. He goes on a long convoluted journey to find the hat and to find out what happened in the 4 hours he can’t remember. The only reason I did not DNF this book was because KING had blurbed it. I was like the good part is on the next page so onward I read. There was no good part until the end. I don’t want to spare anyone the agony of reading it. If I had to read the whole damn book to get to the good part ON THE LAST PAGE then so do you. The worse part is that the ending wont make sense unless you have read the whole story. That I have to admit was pure brilliance on Hubbards part. Write a lackluster story then save the best for last. It is a good thing I borrowed this book or I would have been pissed if I paid money for it.  I am hoping this was just a book that we wrote in a creative lull and his other books will be better.

Dont buy this book but if you wanna know the ending then it is best to get it from the library.
