Sunday Post on a Monday

Sunday Post

          Off the blog

Guess what y’all?!?! I finally, after two years, have a clean bill of health. My last Dr was the cardiologist, and everything came back fine. No idea now why my feet and legs swell up like they do but as long as I take my diuretic all is good!

When I went to see the Dr, they weighed me, and I was petrified cause my sugar cravings had been horrible and I was spotty on the workouts, but I stepped on the scale and peeped and saw I had LOST 10 pounds in two weeks! Now I am back into the flow of my workouts so I hope whenever I got to go next time I will have lost even more weight.

In books

What I read

Well, I attempted to listen to Educated on audio, and my poor brain couldn’t take all of the painful stuff that happens in this book. Maybe I am a Highly Sensitive Person and don’t know it. That would explain why I would get anxious while listening to the audio version. I even wrote on Goodreads:

I had to put this away for another time. It got to be too graphic for me. I am NOT calling it a DNF just maybe when I am in a better headspace I can get through the gory parts. That should tell you how skilled Tara Westover is with writing…”

I  think that maybe, I could handle it better if I read it with my eyes so I will get the book from the library and try to read that way.

What I plan to read

The Obstacle is the Way

This was gifted to me back in March. Yeah I know I am a bad, bad book blogger who takes forever to type up something she promised. It also comes with a booklet that helps you guide your way f applying the book to YOUR personal life!

Never have I ever

I admit I still have not read Almost Sisters, but when I saw this on Edelweiss I requested it and was approved! It is coming out soon, so I am looking forward to reading this book.

The Witch That Came in From the cold Season One

I can’t BELIVE that I have JUST found out about Serial Box. They deliver a new “chapter” every week, I think. I am almost done with season one and let me tell you it is a GOOD story!

the lost city of the Monkey God

I forgot who recommended this to  me, but my hold came up at the library, and from what I saw on Goodreads it sounds like a book I will like

A new earth

this is a book I am always re-reading. It is a mind-bending book and each time I read it I see something new.

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill

I saw book in the title and requested the book

The Seduction Expert

This one was an ARC, and I was dying of curiosity once I saw what it was about on Goodreads. So I said I would read it and review.

Apps that I have discovered

I always love to track what I am doing and to get data on myself. I am a data nerd; what can I say? I was using Toggle to keep track of how many hours I read, but that has some severe limitations. I thought that was the best that was possible, but one day, while scrolling through the iOS app store, I found Bookly. I downloaded it to my phone and started to explore all that it had to offer, and I was IMPRESSED!

Bookly has all sorts of neat statics such as how long it will take you to finish the book among other stats. It gives you a comprehensive look at your reading life. The only trouble I have had so far is remembering to switch on the timer. I think once I get in the habit of doing so, it will be easy to gain all sorts of insights.

To give you an example of what Bookly does I have included a screenshot of my reading last week

Bookly is a great way of tracking your reading!

  3. I have the Bookish Life of Nina Hill on my TBR. As much as I love tracking my reading, I think the app would make me anxious. My week in review

    1. I know people who have that issue also..i am a type A person and a data nerd, so I really enjoy that kind of software.

  4. Two thumbs up for a great checkup! I’m trying to get back in shape, too. I’m a wreck! 😛

I loved Educated. I read it though. My heart aches for her; I saw a book event she did on a Facebook streaming event and her whole demeanor was like all the happiness had been permanently sucked out of her. 😞

I hope your week started out well. 🌞

    1. I had hoped that writing Educated would have a healing effect on her. I have heard that writing about a trauma can be healing, but maybe she went through too much in this lifetime to really “heal” And Yes my week has been great!
