Hello, everyone! Guess what?! My reading and blogging mojo has returned! I read four whole books last week, AND I listened to an Audiobook!! I managed to get through the audiobook because I had a dr appt, and there was a long line. That was good cause I was listening to the Audio of Burn Our Bodies Down, and omg the best audio production I have heard in mt 4 years I have been able to attend ( i have CI implants)… I was sucked in. I then started listening to What You Get Wrong about Appalachia, and it took all five minutes o rip apart Hillbilly Elegy. I am at the halfway mark, and it is much more a book that explores the region and not just gives a day-by-day account of all the hours that the “rich” kids and adults heaped upon him. I am not going to lie; JD Vance speaks the truth. I have seen how mean kids can be ( i am Deaf, so I went to the Deaf School 4 hours away), but what I HAVE seen just blew me away and not in a good way. And while I can see what JDVance is trying to do, he still makes himself to be a giant asshole.
Now that I got hoopla back, I can read my comics!! I LOVED Burn Our Bodies down and scream and Planet Bitch. I, however, did NOT love Small Things Like These. I have to give up on Modern Mrs. Darcy giving out recs that I like. I am serious 99 percent of the recs I got missed by a country mile mark.
I know that is a 2017 comic of Lady Killer, but as I said, there were no hoopla and no store in East Ky for comics, so I am behind.
I was born and bred in Eastern Ky; then, I went off to college “up North” and became super liberal. I was gone from the mountains so long I honestly forgot most of the culture and how the hell they could vote for Trump. White Trash book will hopefully enlighten me.
