What I am Reading

Hi everyone! It has been a hot minute since I posted. Mainly because I could not focus on reading or writing. A couple of weeks ago, the Dr gave me some new meds for a health issue that I had, and now I am back to reading like I used to. I did not realize that I read so much until I was writing this post, but I read six books last week. I would have read a 7th, but Mexican Gothic gave me a severe case of a book hangover.

As you can see, I am picking up other books instead of all the self-help books. I finally realized that my Schizoaffective disorder brain doesn’t work within the frameworks as everyone else, so it was pointless to keep reading them, IMHO. The only reason I read The Obstacle is that a friend swore up and dd that it had useful info in it. And I am sure many people feel that way, but as I said, not for me. I would make a very poor stoic.

So I decided to make a TBR for this week. I hope that I am not jinxing anything. I have to admit that this new med keeps nice and stable and no racing thoughts or anything like that. This gives me a lot of hope because I honestly thought I would ever read like that again. I looked at my GoodReads stats for 2017. I read 185 books!  That was the year before I was diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder. Every year the numbers became not as many as I wished, but when you are psychotic, it is damn near impossible to do anything.

On that note, here is what I want to read in the coming week.

It is almost October, and since everything is closed this year. There is not ONE fall festival open this year, so I had to come up with alternate plans.  I am somewhat sad because of No picking out of a pumpkin at a pumpkin farm. I KNOW I can go to Wal-mart, but it is not the same… Picking out a pumpkin at Wal-Mart is nowhere near the same as going to a farm and getting one. So I am going to celebrate with my books.  As you can probably tell from my pics, I now have an excellent selection of DCI-Fi and spooking types of books. I hope to at least read ten, so I can do a challenge for once. I set myself a goal for ten books for RIP. I am working my reading nook for winter. My parents gifted me with a VERY nice recliner, and honestly, in the case of recliners, you do get what you pay for. I used to get them from Wal-Mart Big Lots, and they were ok… I thought at the time that was as good as they get, but my parents went to a very expensive furniture store and bought one for my birthday, and I had no idea that a chair could have that level of comfort. It is so comfy that I  often sit there and read until bedtime. I even moved my TBR cart next to it, and I look at Pinterest, and I wish I had the skills to make stuff, but I don’t, so I have to find what I want already made.

This is what my reading nook looks like right now …

Ignore the tacky wallpaper… I had to move back in with my parents a couple of years ago due to some serious health concerns.

I know what I WANT it too look like in my head or be honest, as I have seen on Pinterest, but not exactly sure how to get that look off the internet and onto my reading nook.

I also signed up for the Read-a-thon for October. And this year, what with my brain working and all, I incredibly excited about it!
