I saw this on Modern Mrs. Darcy, and I wanted to do one also, so here we are. This is only the first time in decades that I have been 100 percent stable from my severe mental illness. Usually, by now, I would be struggling to hang on until the spring. More than a few times, I ended up in what is known as a crisis unit for people who are not sick enough to go to the “big” hospital but who the Dr feels is not safe at their home. You wouldn’t believe how many people were there during the unforgiving Cleveland winter. One year I thought if I got a happy light, then that may help. It helped so much that I went straight past feeling human again to full-blown Manic. It took a while to get back to where I was and yet I still felt depressed. At one point I realized that if I wanted to climb out of this hole of despair I was going to have to do the work my damn self. Gradually I started making changes to my life that helped, like getting my own Vitamin D3. I am currently taking 1500 mg a day. (this is the one I use). At the time I was on Paleo, and everyone else was talking about how much better they felt once they found out how many milligrams were best for them, soo I wanted to try that. I was living in Cleveland at the time and I am telling you winter in Cleveland is no joke. When I started taking 1500 mg a day, I felt like I was on a tropical beach loaded with good ole Vit D ( i would not advise anyone to jump in and start doing whatever influencers do. I love the idea of biohacking, which makes my Drs very nervous, but so far, I have managed not to fuck myself up too bad. , but that just me) So take what I say with a huge grain of salt.
I finally figured my supplement routine, and it has made a huge difference.
I am BEYOND obsessed with Young Living stuff. My family makes fun of me, but I love my oils and supplements from Young Living
the thing that I have found that helps the most other than making sure vitamin D is sufficient for your needs is my workout program. I am currently using Tone it up workout program and Noom to track what I eat.
I have to admit that Noom has been a game-changer. Most programs are like only the calories matter, and I seriously struggled on every program. Then noom came along they use a psychology-based program, and you are only limited to a certain amount of “red” foods and let me tell you it worked, and now that I know what “clean eating” really is, it makes it so much easier to pick out foods from a restaurant.
And I can’t forget about Headspace. It took a long while to see some tangible benefit, but I finally understand why people stress mediating a dhow that helps them. I now feel like I can stop and breathe before I do something stupid.
All are the above is keeping me sane after everything is happening. First Covid, then getting slammed by snowstorm after a snowstorm and being all cooped up. I no longer feel like that dude in The Shining. #progress.
